What vaccines are used and how?

Four vaccines are currently approved in Switzerland. We generally recommend vaccination with an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer / BioNTech or Moderna). These vaccines currently offer the best possible protection from a severe course of the disease and its possible consequences.

If you are over the age of 18 and cannot be vaccinated with an mRNA vaccine for medical reasons or if you refuse mRNA vaccines, you can get vaccinated with Janssen’s vector vaccine or Novavax’s protein vaccine.

The table below shows an overview of the vaccines used in Switzerland and the number of doses required for basic immunization.
